WHTI - Canadian Tourists Need Passports to Enter the US
On June 1, 2009 the U.S. Government's Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative went into effect on the longest undefended border in the world, the boundary between Canad and the U.S. This means that Canadians will not have special status to cross over into the U.S. and will require passports. Not only that, U.S. citizens returning to the U.S. from Canada will require passports or special documentation.
